Your Voice Matters at Board Meetings

East Central ISD values the voices of our families, staff, and community members. Board meetings are an important way to stay informed and engaged in the work happening across our district.

In accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act and Board policy (BED(LOCAL)), the Board provides an opportunity for public comment at its meetings.

Public comment occurs at the beginning of each meeting as designated on the agenda.

How to Sign Up for Public Comment

Community members who wish to address the Board should:

  • Complete the public comment sign-up form located near the entrance of the board meeting room
  • Submit the form before the meeting is called to order
  • Indicate the agenda item or topic they wish to address

At Regular Board Meetings, individuals may speak on any topic.

At Special or other Board Meetings, public comment is limited to items posted on that meeting’s agenda.

Speakers are generally provided up to three minutes to make comments. Time limits are applied consistently to ensure meetings remain orderly and efficient.

Trustees cannot deliberate on or respond to topics not posted on the agenda under the Texas Open Meetings Act.

Meeting agendas are posted at least 72 hours in advance at:
www.ecisd.net → Board of Trustees → Meeting Agendas

We encourage anyone planning to speak to review the agenda in advance.

Why Attend Board Meetings?

Board meetings are where important discussions and decisions take place regarding:

  • Student programs and services
  • District initiatives and campus updates
  • Budget and financial planning
  • Policy considerations

Attending meetings is one of the best ways to stay informed about the Board's work and East Central ISD's progress.

We appreciate our community’s continued engagement and partnership in supporting our students.
