East Central ISD will join communities and school districts nationwide in celebrating Red Ribbon Week®, October 27–31, 2025 — the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. Red Ribbon Week began in 1985 in honor of DEA agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, whose sacrifice inspired a national movement to advocate for drug-free communities. Today, millions of students participate each year, pledging to make choices that lead to healthy, productive lives.

The 2025 Red Ribbon Week theme is “Life Is a Puzzle: EC Solves It Drug Free.” Students and staff are invited to participate in the following districtwide dress days:

  • Monday, Oct. 27 – “Too Bright for Drugs”: Wear neon or bright colors or sunglasses.

  • Tuesday, Oct. 28 – “Don’t Let Drugs Mix You Up”: Wear backwards or mismatched clothes.

  • Wednesday, Oct. 29 – “Dream Big, Don’t Do Drugs”: Wear pajamas.

  • Thursday, Oct. 30 – “Be a Hero, Be Drug Free”: Wear superhero attire or camouflage.

  • Friday, Oct. 31 – “Drugs Have No Place in Our Story! EC Is Drug Free!” (Elementary: Dress up as a character from your favorite book. Middle & High School: Wear school colors or show school spirit.)

Through Red Ribbon Week, East Central ISD reaffirms its commitment to student safety, wellness, and education by working together with families and community partners to promote a drug-free future for every student.
