East Central ISD will celebrate Veterans Day Spirit Week from November 10–14, to honor the men and women who have served in our nation’s armed forces. Students and staff are encouraged to participate in themed spirit days throughout the week.

East Central ISD has been recognized as a CTE District of Distinction by the Career and Technical Association of Texas (CTAT) — recognizing districts for their excellence in Career and Technical Education (CTE), leadership, and innovation in preparing students for college, careers, and life.

East Central ISD’s 2024–2025 Community-Based Accountability Report highlights the growth, achievements, and collaborative spirit that continue to move the district forward. It serves as a reflection of the district’s ongoing commitment to excellence and improvement.

East Central ISD’s Child Nutrition Department hosted a lively Farm Fresh Challenge event at Honor Elementary, celebrating Texas agriculture and the importance of local foods in schools. Students enjoyed a milk-themed celebration featuring guests from Dairy Max and Oak Farms.

East Central ISD will observe Red Ribbon Week®, October 27–31, 2025, promoting drug prevention and healthy choices. Campuses will take part in themed activities based on this year’s theme: “Life Is a Puzzle: EC Solves It Drug Free.” All students and staff are encouraged to participate.

East Central High School’s Braylon Blair has earned a spot on the prestigious San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Team, representing East Central ISD on Team Blue at the annual All-Star Game on January 10, 2026, at the Alamodome. Congratulations, Braylon!

East Central ISD, in partnership with the Toyota USA Foundation, Texas A&M University–San Antonio, and DePelchin Children’s Center celebrated the opening of the new United Way East Central ISD Family Resource Center at Pecan Valley STEM Academy.

East Central High School's Electrathon Team proudly brought home a hard-earned 2nd place trophy from the High Plains Electrathon in Hays, Kansas — finishing just half a lap behind the long-established Kansas frontrunners — and missing 1st place by only 28 seconds!

Pecan Valley STEM Academy student Ausha Reed had her charcoal self-portrait chosen for the Texas Art Education Association’s 2025 txEDCON Exhibition in Houston, which showcased student artwork from Pre-K through 12th grade across Texas.

Four East Central FFA members proudly represented the district at the American Association for Agricultural Education’s Western Area Research Conference at Texas State University. They showcased their skills while earning recognition, scholarships, and valuable experiences.

East Central ISD has been named among the top three school districts in Texas for year-over-year growth, earning recognition for significant gains in the 2025 Accountability Ratings. Our district achieved a 9-point increase from 2024 and an 8-point increase from 2023.

From September 8–12, East Central ISD elementary schools will join together in celebrating You Matter Week. Each day, students are encouraged to dress up according to the school’s daily theme, helping to spread kindness, positivity, and school spirit. This special week is a fun reminder to every student that they are seen, heard, and valued.

East Central ISD Superintendent Roland Toscano has been named the Education Partner honoree by Communities In Schools® (CIS®), the nation’s leading organization supporting student success. Mr. Toscano will be honored at the 2025 awards ceremony on November 11, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

In Texas, campuses that rank in the top 25% of similar schools statewide earn distinctions from the Texas Education Agency. These honors show that a campus is not only meeting expectations but excelling beyond most peers in areas like academics, growth, or readiness. Earning a distinction reflects the hard work of students, staff, and the community.

New wellness opportunities are now available at Schaefer Library through Project East Central AWARE. Teens, families, and community members can access the Calm Cart, a Mental Health & Wellness Resource Shelf, and a monthly Wellness Hour for support and resources.

The 2024 and 2025 state accountability results are in, and East Central ISD is on the rise! Across the district, students and staff are proving that hard work, innovation, and community support make a winning combination. From significant score increases to a record number of state distinctions, ECISD’s progress tells an inspiring story.

We officially cut the ribbon on The Hub—a new space to strengthen mental health services across East Central ISD. Through our partnership with Communities In Schools of San Antonio (CIS-SA) and support from the Project AWARE grant, The Hub will promote collaboration, training, and student support.

East Central ISD has received the prestigious GOLD Turnip the Beet Award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for exceptional quality in its Summer Meals Program—one of only a few districts nationwide to achieve this top-level recognition.

East Central ISD congratulates School Board Vice President Emilio Carrasco on completing the Texas Association of School Boards’ Leadership program and earning the distinguished Master Trustee designation—one of the highest honors in Texas school board service.

Hollie Helmke, Class of 2025 Valedictorian, turned her childhood passion for engineering into a national victory. From building cardboard vending machines to leading her Electrathon team to first place in a national race, Hollie’s story shows how creativity and drive can lead to big wins.

The Texas Education Agency has released the 2023 A–F accountability ratings, based primarily on STAAR scores and other indicators. East Central ISD is taking strategic, student-centered actions to build on this data and ensure long-term academic growth.
