Mackinzie Whitlock is the daughter of Patty and Kevin Whitlock. Mackinzie has been in the East Central district for her entire scholastic career. Through her 4 years at East Central she was enrolled in Honors Colloquium and Advanced yearbook classes which introduced her to lifelong friends and amazing mentors that were able to teach her skills that span further than just classroom knowledge. In yearbook, Mackinzie could be found working as a Photographer, Page designer, Editor, and an Editor in Chief. She also took 11 AP classes and was awarded AP Scholar with Distinction by college board for her scores in the 2020 school year. Mackinzie also participated in several clubs where she was able to hold leadership positions including NHS Historian, BETA Vice President, Junior and Senior Class Historian, and ACE Club project leader. Throughout her journey through highschool she was awarded numerous awards, some of the most meaningful being the ECHS Superintendent of the Month Award and recognition from the KENS 5 news station, as a Kid Who Makes SA Great. Academic accomplishments followed as well, in the form of both SAT and ACT academic achievement awards and district medals for editorial writing in UIL. Mackinzie plans to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering in college, and has been accepted to 3 of the top 15 Engineering programs in the Nation. Those being Columbia University, Cornell University, and the school of Mackinzie’s planned attendance, The University of Texas at Austin. Mackinzie is incredibly grateful for the amazing teachers she has had through her 13 years in the district, beginning in the Village hallway at Pecan Valley and continuing through to the halls of the High School her teachers have helped instill a love for learning that has only grown stronger as time has gone by. Mackinzie would also like to thank her family and friends for being the best support system anyone could ask for, without them she would not be in the position she is today.
