Alfonso Melendez

Throughout high school Alfonso Melendez dedicated himself to taking rigorous classes and distinguishing himself as much as possible. He took multiple AP courses, was in Honors Colloquium throughout all four years, participated in the Art Club and was a member of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and Spanish National Honor Society. Alfonso was chosen by his peers to represent the class of 2020 as both the Junior and Senior class president, a well as being voted Homecoming prince his Junior year and Mr. EC his Senior year. He has also won awards such as an Academic Achievement Award for his PSAT score his Junior year and three state medals for the VASE art competition, and was recognized by The College Board’s National Hispanic Recognition Program for his PSAT score. After high school he will be attending the University of Texas at Austin as an Anthropology major. Alfonso is incredibly grateful for his parents, Aurora and Fernando Melendez, for being an example of what relentless hard work looks like, as well as all his friends and teachers for constantly encouraging him to grow as a student and strive to be the best person he can be.
