Transportation is provided for all students who reside in the East Central Independent School District.
Student Expectations
The Leadership Academy seeks interested students who enjoy designing, creating, innovative experiences and engaging challenges. The academy student should achieve an attendance rate of 96% current/ongoing, and satisfactory conduct. The expectation is that students must achieve and maintain an 80% passing average or greater in core courses (English, Math, Science, and Social Studies) within the current year of application.
Selection and Notification Process
Applications are available until classes are full.
Applications submitted after this date will be accepted and a decision will be made based on the availability of space and student’s campus of origin. Once all slots are filled through a lottery system, additional applications will be placed on a waiting list. Incoming Kindergarten through 5th grade students who reside in the ECISD school district for the 2022-2023 year are eligible to apply.
STEP 1: Completed applications will be screened to ensure minimum expectations are met.
STEP 2: A public lottery will be conducted and students will be selected. ECISD has 6 elementary schools that will feed into The East Central Leadership Academy. 6 students will be chosen from each individual elementary school per grade level via lottery. All remaining applicants will be placed into a districtwide lottery.
STEP 3: Selected students are required to attend student/parent meetings to discuss student expectations,
responsibilities and commitments as an East Central Leadership Academy student.
Student Commitment and Parent Support
Students must exhibit an interest in The Leadership Academy and must demonstrate a willingness to commit to the self-discipline required by a rigorous academic program. Parent/guardian participation in the East Central Leadership Academy is critical for the success of your students. More information will be provided after the lottery selection.
The Leadership Academy provides a unique learning experience for students through a Project-Based Learning model that incorporates technology, service-learning, career exploration, and leadership development. The East Central Leadership Academy strives to build the global leaders of tomorrow.
