About the Superintendent

Mr. Roland Toscano is a proud alumnus of East Central ISD, where he has dedicated the past twenty-eight years of his professional career. His journey with ECISD began as a bus driver and substitute teacher, demonstrating his commitment to the community and its students. He then transitioned into teaching, where he inspired students as a science teacher and motivated athletes as a coach. His leadership skills led him to administrative roles, first as an assistant principal and then as the principal of Heritage Middle School. He later became the principal of East Central High School, where he further established his reputation as a dedicated and effective leader.

In his current role as Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Toscano continues to drive positive change and growth within the district. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) in 1997 and his Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Kingsville in 2005. His educational background has equipped him with the knowledge and skills to mentor and develop successful school leaders, a hallmark of his tenure.

Mr. Toscano’s leadership extends beyond East Central ISD. He serves as a TASA Superintendent Mentor and Executive Coach, is an active member of the Bexar County Education Coalition, chairs the Region 20 Bexar County cluster of Superintendents, serves as a Board Director for the Up Partnership and also chairs the education sector of the San Antonio area United Way campaign. Additionally, he is actively involved in numerous educational leadership organizations throughout Texas, showcasing his commitment to advancing education at both the local and state levels.

Above all, Roland Toscano is a family man. He and his wife, Bonnie, who is also and East Central graduate, have three children who reflect their parents’ dedication to education and community. Their eldest son, Dustin, graduated from East Central in 2013 and has pursued a career in education. Their daughter, Francine, a 2015 graduate, is now a pediatric nurse practitioner and their youngest son, Tyson, is a 2024 CAST Lead High School graduate who is serving his country in the United States Army Reserves while studying human resource management.

Mr. Toscano’s career and personal life are testaments to his unwavering dedication to the East Central community and the field of education.
