Standard Reunification Method
Key Compenents
The Standard Reunification Method is the method by which East Central ISD will follow to reunify students with parents/guardians in the event of a crisis.
-
Incident Command:
A command team is established to oversee the entire reunification process, which includes communication with first responders and school officials.
-
Parent/Guardian Identification and Check-in:
Parents arrive at the designated site, identify themselves with valid photo ID, and confirm their emergency contact information.
-
Student Locator and Release:
A reunification team member retrieves a reunification card or form from the parent, which serves as a ticket to locate the student in a student holding area.
-
Student Assembly Area:
Students are kept in a supervised area, away from arriving parents, and are provided with trusted adults and activities to reduce stress.
-
Accountable Release:
Students are released to their designated parent or guardian at a final checkpoint after their identity and relationship to the student are verified.
-
Designated Reunification Site:
A location (like a church, civic center, or other school) is chosen to provide a safe, centralized area for the reunification process, away from media and potential dangers at the school.
