Inclement Weather Procedures

In the event of severe weather impacting East Central ISD, it’s essential to rely on district communications as the official source of information.

ECISD takes proactive measures year-round to prepare students and staff for the unpredictable weather common in South Texas.

When bad weather is anticipated, administrators closely monitor forecasts, coordinate with neighboring districts, and work alongside our operations and transportation teams to assess road conditions and facility power. These efforts help ensure decisions prioritize the safety and security of students and staff. If closures are necessary, the district will strive to communicate decisions by 5 a.m. on the school day.

Information about severe weather, delays, or closures will be shared through the following channels:

  1. ParentLink Notifications: Calls, emails, texts, and app notifications
  2. TalkingPoints Notifications
  3. Website: ecisd.net
  4. Facebook: facebook.com/ecproud
  5. Instagram: instagram.com/ecisdig
  6. X (formerly Twitter): x.com/ECISDtweets
  7. Local News Stations (when applicable)

Please note:

To receive timely notifications, ensure your contact information is current in both ParentLink and TalkingPoints. Contact your campus attendance clerk for updates.
If you’re not receiving emails from ParentLink, check your email’s blocked or unsubscribed list and add noreply@notification.com to your safe senders.

While local news stations will be notified, their updates may occasionally be delayed.

For additional details, please review the options in the dropdown menu below or contact your child’s campus for further assistance.

Road Closure Information

Here are some helpful links concerning road closures due to flooding or inclement weather (icy roads).

Remember, when it comes to water/ice and road closures, turn around and don't drown! It is illegal to drive around barricades at low water crossings.

  • BEXARflood.org shows road conditions of monitored low water crossings across Bexar County. By subscribing to alerts through this website, you can receive text or email alerts when low water crossings you choose to monitor have water over the road.
  • The Bexar County HALT system is a tool to warn drivers when there is too much water over the road to drive through safely. Once the water reaches a certain depth, the system will warn drivers to turn around with either flashing lights or a combination of flashing lights and gates.
