An Update from East Central ISD: Supporting Our People and Moving Forward Together

February 19, 2026 - East Central ISD understands that changes to roles and positions can create uncertainty, and we want our community to hear directly from us. The district is making thoughtful adjustments to some positions as part of an effort to reduce a projected $6 million budget deficit. These decisions are focused on protecting classrooms, supporting students, and maintaining long-term stability for ECISD.

With few exceptions, changes are being made through natural attrition, including retirements, resignations, and employees choosing opportunities outside the district. This approach helps ECISD make responsible adjustments while reducing disruption for our staff and schools.

For employees whose roles are being restructured, our priority is supporting people first. Many staff members are transitioning into other important roles within ECISD, and in some cases, these moves create new opportunities for growth or advancement. Income will not be reduced, and some employees may see an increase depending on their new assignment.

While a job title or department may change, the importance of our people does not. Every employee plays a vital role in our mission, and our commitment to excellence in teaching and learning remains strong. East Central ISD will continue working to ensure students receive high-quality instruction, meaningful opportunities, and a supportive school environment.

ECISD also remains focused on the responsible use of taxpayer dollars. According to TEA’s PEIMS data, administrative costs make up approximately 8% (well below the state standard of around 11% for districts our size), reflecting our continued commitment to directing resources where they matter most: our students and classrooms.

We know change can be difficult, and we are grateful for the trust and support of our families, staff, and community as we move forward together.
