Are people being fired?

Most changes are happening through natural transitions such as retirements, resignations, or employees choosing new opportunities. Many staff members whose roles are being restructured are moving into other important positions within ECISD. Income will not be reduced, and some employees may see increases depending on their new assignment.

Is the district adding more administrators?

East Central ISD continues to operate with one of the leanest administrative structures in the state. Administrative costs make up about 8% of the district’s budget, well below the state average of about 11% for districts of our size. Our focus remains on directing resources toward classrooms and students.

Are programs or classrooms being cut?

The goal of these adjustments is to protect strong classrooms and maintain meaningful opportunities for students. While some roles may shift, ECISD remains committed to high-quality instruction, student growth, and a supportive learning environment.

Is this happening because of poor financial decisions?

No. East Central ISD has the lowest tax rate among the 19 Bexar County area ISDs and is known for stretching every dollar responsibly. The district has earned an A rating for financial accountability, a perfect FIRST score, clean audits, and a strong Aa2 Moody’s bond rating — reflecting careful stewardship of public funds.
