Talking Points

TalkingPoints is a free, easy and safe way for families to communicate in their home languages with their child’s teachers. We will be using this platform to communicate with you about your child’s education and progress.
How do I sign up for TalkingPoints?
There is no need to sign up for TalkingPoints. Parents will automatically receive text messages from the principal, teacher, or other school staff. Messages will be sent to the cell phone number listed in our student records. If you do not wish to receive text messages, you can unsubscribe at any time by texting GOODBYE or STOP.
How can families use TalkingPoints?
There are two ways families can use TalkingPoints.
- School and teacher messages will come directly to the phone number that is registered in our system as a SMS text or through the TalkingPoints Parent App.
- You can reply by text or through the app.
Families will receive messages in the language they have listed as their correspondence language. Families can reply in any language and the message will be translated into English for the school.
If families prefer to not receive text messages from TalkingPoints, they can reply with "GOODBYE" at any time.
How do I get the TalkingPoints app?
The TalkingPoints for Families app is ideal for families who have limited text messages, or who wish to make use of enhanced messaging features. Once you install the app and register your phone, you will no longer receive text messages.
How do I switch back to text messages if I no longer want to use the app?
If you have registered for the app and wish to receive text messages again, you must first log out of the app before deleting it from your phone. If you delete the app before signing out, the system will not switch you back to text messages.
How do I join a class?
There is no need to join a class in TalkingPoints. After logging in to the app, parents should be able to see all of their child’s teachers. If you do not see the correct classes listed for your child, please contact your child’s school to verify that we have the correct mobile phone number on file.
Why am I being asked for a class code?
If prompted to enter a class code to join a class, your app may be registered to a different mobile phone number than the one we have in our student records. Please contact your child’s school to verify that we have the correct contact information on file.
Why am I not receiving any messages?
You may not receive messages if you previously unsubscribed, are not listed as one of the two primary guardians for your child, or if your mobile phone number is not listed in our student records. Please contact your child’s school to verify that we have the correct information on file.
How do I rejoin TalkingPoints after I unsubscribed?
If you unsubscribe from TalkingPoints and want to rejoin, please reach out to your student’s teacher or principal. They will share a special phone number for you to use. You can text REJOIN to this number to begin receiving messages again.
Why don’t I receive messages in my preferred language?
If you prefer to receive text messages in another language, please contact your child’s school so that we can update the language settings on your account. If you are using the app, you can also update your language preference in your account profile.
