Choice Schools

Neighborhood schools are based on where you live, but Choice Schools are based on what’s best for your student. Interested in a STEM focus or dual language instruction, but not zoned to that school? No problem—Choice Schools allow students to attend campuses outside their assigned boundary to pursue their passions and learning style.

Absolutely! All East Central ISD Choice Schools offer specially designed instruction and services for students with disabilities. We welcome all learners and are committed to meeting each student’s individual needs.

Students who receive 504 services are encouraged to apply to any Choice School. We’re committed to equity and ensuring all students have access to meaningful learning opportunities.

Yes! All students entering Pre-K or Kindergarten will be considered for participation in our Dual Language Immersion Program, including students of other languages and special education students. Language support services are inclusive and available to all qualifying students.

Yes, transportation is available for eligible students attending designated Choice Schools:

• CAST Lead (Grades 8–12): Students ride their assigned East Central High School bus.

• Dual Language Immersion (Salado/Oak Crest): Students in the Legacy or Heritage zones ride their assigned campus bus and transfer if needed.

• Salado Leadership Academy: Same as above, students transfer via shuttle as needed.
