• Evidence-Based Programs for Grades 6-12

Evidence-Based Programs are statistically proven to impact teen pregnancies or birth, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), or sexual activity.  ECISD has adopted the following Evidence-Based Programs for implementation during science instructional time.  It is our goal to create instructional experiences that promote adolescent health and wellness by providing medically-accurate sexual health information to students and encourage positive youth development and healthy life choices.  Below, you will see a general overview of each of the curricula as well as links to resources for each program.  Curriculum resources include: training notes, Powerpoint slides and handouts, and videos.

Samples of the approved curriculums are available for parent viewing at each campus.  Please contact the campus for more information or to schedule a viewing.

Draw the Line/Respect the Line (6th-8th grade)
Draw the Line/Respect the Line (DTL/RTL) focuses on equipping students with techniques to identify their personal boundaries as well as how to articulate those boundaries and respond to peers when those boundaries are tested.  It will be presented to students in 6th, 7th, & 8th grades during their science classes.

    Making a Difference (9th grade)
Making a Difference (MAD) is an abstinence curriculum because it focuses entirely on knowledge, attitudes, and skills which encourage and assist young people in implementing abstinence in their relationships.  It will be presented to 9th grade students through their Biology classes.

Love Notes (12th grade with some 11th grade)
Love Notes (LN) focuses on building relationship skills for love, life, and work. It will be presented to 11th and 12th grade students through Senior-level science courses.
