Student/ Parent Grievance Process (FNG Local Policy)
| Step | Description |
| 1. Informal Resolution | Reach out to those closest to the issue to try to resolve. If there is a issue on campus, reach out to the campus administration. If the issue is within a department, reach out to the Director of that department. Many times, issues are able to be resolved in a timely manner without going through a formal grievance process. |
|
2. File Level 1 Grievance |
If you are unable to achieve a satisfactory resolution through the informal resolution process, a complainant has 15 days to file a formal grievance. To file a formal grievance, fill out the form linked and submit it to the Personnel Department. |
| 3. Level 1 Grievance Hearing and Decision | The principal or designated district official will review the information and hold a grievance conference to hear and review the information. Following this hearing, the administrator will provide a decision with findings and appeal instructions. |
|
4. Complainant May Appeal Level 1 Decision |
If the issue is still not resolved after the Level 1 Hearing, the complainant may appeal to Level 2. The Level 2 Grievance Form must be completed and submitted to the Personnel Department. |
| 5. Level 2 Grievance Hearing and Decision | The Superintendent or designated district official will hold the grievance conference and will follow with a written decision with findings and appeal instructions. |
|
6. Complainant May Appeal to School Board |
If at the end of Level 2, the complainant wants to appeal the decision, a Level 3 Grievance Form must be completed to initiate the Board hearing process. |
|
7. Board or Board Committee Hearing and Decision |
The full Board of Trustees or a committee of at least three Trustees will hear and decide a grievance. The grievance is heard during a closed session. |
